What draws you to this way of telling stories?
I think maybe my photography feels raw and honest because a lot of the time I’m just trying to capture real people doing everyday things, but amongst that I’m also looking for interesting or poignant moments. There are some inconveniences to shooting on film but it really helps you be intentional with your work. Instead of just taking photos of anything and everything you see, you're forced to really think about what you're trying to capture.

Because football stadiums are a unique environment. Without wanting to sound too cliched, there’s an energy in them that you won’t really find anywhere else, the way people behave a football ground is totally different to how they would behave in any other walk of life. I love the actual sport as much as everyone else but I'm more fascinated by distinctive cultural behaviours that have developed and continue to develop around attending football (music, fashion, the pubs, the songs).

What do you see in casual culture, and how does Aquascutum Active fit into that world?
Obviously the game has changed a lot over the last 20/30 years, and along with that casual culture has waned. But at every game there are still pockets of people who still represent the culture, the size of these pockets vary from club to club but it is still there.
To me, Aquascutum is one of the most distinctive indicators of an interest in casual culture. If you see a group of people on the tube on a Saturday, if some of them are wearing Gazelles and Aquascutum Active you can be fairly sure they're going to a football game.
