Home & Away: the photographic journey of Emanuele D'Angelo
Emanuele D'Angelo, Catania, Italy.
Do you know the feeling when the visiting team suddenly scores a goal and the stadium is absolutely silent for a few, very few moments? It's moments like these that I try to capture every Sunday. For me, football and terrace culture are practically an obsession, something I've always wanted to experience first-hand and then tell about.
I was born in Sicily, right by the sea and with a volcano that can always make its presence felt. It all started in Catania, the rest came naturally without me looking for it. Milan was undoubtedly the springboard for my obsession, I devoured one film reel after another, I travelled for hours on buses, trains and planes in search of every such moment.
I have made many mistakes, but at the same time I have learnt a lot and probably still have a long way to go. As long as there is a game, a stadium, a new film, I will be there, ready to catalogue those relentless and sometimes contradictory feelings that each of us has had at least once after a game in the canonical ninety minutes. With Aquascutum Active, a brand that has always represented the visual language associated with terrace culture and beyond, it was easy to get along.
A collection that in a way represents what I have always loved and what in certain cases is also a part of me. These are the cities and teams I have chosen to take you on one of my weekly trips, but above all to take you into a "moment' that only football can give you.
